Stealing from Churches

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

No matter how much we try to prevent it, crime will always exist. Yes it’s a sin and one hopes that those who commit the criminal acts are caught but, for the life of me, I can not understand the recent spate of crimes that have been committed on church property.

Sacramental Leniency

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

The practice nowadays, where Christenings are concerned, is that most are performed soon after the birth of a child. The timing of this sacrament just doesn’t sit right with me. Many would be only too happy to leave things as they are for the sake of tradition… but tradition dictates otherwise. So…are we too lenient with our [...]

God loves…shouldn’t we??

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again ‘a point central to our faith is that God is ‘Love’, but this leads to a big problem in the way our Church works today. Where love is God is. This view strengthens our view of marriage as a sacred union where God is the love [...]

Dedicato a te

Monday, July 30th, 2007

I don’t really remember very much about the Latin Mass.  I became an altar-boy a short time before the transition to the celebration of Mass in the vernacular and so the development of my faith life has been almost entirely through a language that I fully understand.  But I do recall my training as an [...]

Monday, July 30th, 2007

This was no ordinary van….It is common knowledge that the owner of the company concerned is a major player in the drug scene in Ireland. He uses that company to ‘explain’ his extraordinary wealth…but we’re not blind!… Not any more anyway.

Should Religion = Cash?

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

The Kingsway International Christian Centre in Rainhem, Essex have submitted plans for a 8,000-seater church. Many of the locals are said to be against this, however the Church officials are said to have surveyed locals and politicians and found that 80 per cent of respondents….

Communities without unity

Friday, July 27th, 2007

In the 2000 years since the foundation of the Church Christian communities have been transformed from minority outlaws, living and praying together in underground tunnels, to entire nations singing from mighty Cathedrals…..but have we moved forward or backward?

What am I allowed???

Friday, July 27th, 2007

While browsing other Christian blogs I came across the topic  ‘Is “MySpace” ok for Christians?’  on christianblog.com. The discussion veered towards Bible quotes and religious fanaticism as the ‘battle’ began against the ‘evil’ that was seen as MySpace. I don’t want to go near that road but I do want to talk about the question.
