Worship, intrigue, a quest for knowledge, daily pilgrimages and life changing discoveries…It all sounds like religion does it not? I would love to be able to say that’s what I’m about to write about.

‘Infallible!’ or ‘Infallible?’
Tuesday, July 10th, 2007
What does it mean when we say the Pope is infallible? It means, basically, that the Holy Fathers teachings on faith and morals can be pronounced a ‘no-go-area’ for the faithful. If the Holy Father declares a teaching on faith or morals as connected to Divine Revelation then that teaching is ‘infallible’. This doesn’t mean [...]

“What God shall join together, let no man tear assunder” - St. Matthew
Tuesday, July 10th, 2007
A real bone of contention for many Catholics today is the Church’s stance on divorce. This when anywhere from 1,000 to 4,000 Irish divorce legally each year and 86% of the nation still claim to be Catholic. What then of these tens and twenties of thousands. Living in sin? Friday, July 6th, 2007
I know I’ve previously written about grief and how it affects us all, but I was struck by a particular form of grieving while watching the Concert for Diana on the 1st July.
Many of us have a difficult time letting things go; be it a grudge, lost relationship, lost loved one etc. However watching the [...]

“People hurt the ones they love. That’s how it is all around the world.” -John Coffey (’The Green Mile’)
Friday, July 6th, 2007
I was watching ‘The Green Mile’ last night and was struck once again by the horror, not only of capital punishment, but of murder of any kind. To clarify: my view is that the taking of a life by any other is ‘murder’.

‘A well founded fear of persecution’
Thursday, July 5th, 2007
‘We never really realise what it is we have until it’s gone.’ No truer words were ever spoken. You could apply this to anything from a warm place to sleep at night to the freedom to think. The latter is what I want to talk about now.
