Before Elvis there was nothing - John Lennon
Saturday, August 18th, 2007
It is 30 years since the death of Elvis Presley. The King is loved and worshipped by millions, almost in a same vein as a belief in a religion.
There have been many conspiracy theories as to whether the ‘King’ is still alive. In fact at www.elvislives.net they are convinced of this and have come up [...]

To celebrate or to mourn?
Thursday, August 16th, 2007
I had to go to a funeral service today and as I watched the mourning friends and family in the church; subsequently in the graveyard and the reception, a thought struck me. How are we actually meant to act, apart from respectful, during a funeral?

Teenagers complain there’s nothing to do, then stay out all night doing it. ~Bob Phillips
Wednesday, August 15th, 2007
Society is constantly changing but it amazes me that the levels of gang attacks, mostly teenagers, appear to have risen to a state of chaos.
The recent in Warrington on a 47 year old father of three is the tip of the iceberg and should not be taken lightly. Gary Newlove confronted a group of youths who [...]

Whose belief is it anyway?
Tuesday, August 14th, 2007
I’ve often wondered should we criticise people who do not follow the same religion as we do? Whether you’re Catholic, Protestant, Jewish etc does it really matter and do we not all pray to the same God anyway?

Daniel M. Buechlein, Archbishop of Indianapolis
Since 1982, the state of Texas has executed 398 convicts after the Supreme Court lifted a ban on capital punishment. In this Month alone they five executions scheduled. [...]

Sins so deadly
Sunday, August 12th, 2007
“Seven deadly sins, That’s how the world begins.” so sang Bob Dylan, but do we really think about the merits of being forewarned about the ‘evil’ behind these acts that we commit on an almost daily basis.
In today’s society it is difficult to uphold decency and morals. I think we all commit some form of [...]

Worshipping Football

I’m a massive football (soccer) fan so understandably I watched with great interest in today’s exploits as the start of the new season kicked off.
Between watching Roy Keane’s Sunderland at 12.45pm then, onto Bolton v Newcastle at 3pm closely followed by, my main event Aston Villa v (The Mighty) Liverpool at 5.15pm it is a [...]

Friday, August 10th, 2007
A survey by The Scottish Executive has found that 32% in Scotland believe that a woman can be partly to blame if she is raped.
In the Scottish Executive survey, 27% said if a woman was drunk she was partly to blame, while the proportion was 26% if the woman was wearing revealing clothing. There are [...]

So who is “I am”
Friday, August 10th, 2007
We are told about our relationship with God being personal and yet mankind is said to have a communal relationship with Him. We are told of the face of God as father, protecter etc., yet we each see God differently. Can these views be reconciled with one another or are they contradictory?
