Nobody ever said it was simple to be a man. If it were, more guys would try it. - Hugh O’Neill
Whether we like to admit it or not we are all getting older. It’s one of the things that we do not have control of in our lives, normally you tend to find women are more vain about this change then men.
So it was with great interest to find a survey in Britain that showed that men in their 30’s and 40’s are spending over £24bn every year in an effort to cope with their mid-life crisis.
Holidays in exotic locations account for the most popular in terms of flaunting of wealth with an average of £1,340 a year being spent. There are also measures such as hair weaves, teeth whitening and Botox procedures which cost nearly £2,500 a year, on average.
43.7%, of those surveyed by Ciao Surveys , said they were spending because they became conscious of getting older and not achieving all they wanted to. Which is understandable if you think about the way modern society is.
People are settling down in their late 20’s onwards as there does not seem to be the same rush to altar as perhaps there was with previous generations. We’re all here for a good time, not a long time, right?
With that in mind, perhaps those who married young felt they have missed out on another side of life and are trying to do what they can to reclaim that lost youth?
While only 4.6% in the survey said they would consider going for a younger partner, it was more interest to read the findings of Australian research which suggest that to have the most children, men should find a partner six years younger and women a mate four years older.
The researchers looked at men and women who did not change their partners between the birth of their first and last child and found the age differences among couples that produced the most offspring.
We are told that Women are more mature then Men so is it not more then likely that a woman, for example, will step up a level of maturity by being in a relationship where her partner is four years older then she is and vice versa?
At the end of the day some things can just be put down to luck rather then science and being in a relationship needs hard work and being slightly fortunate.
All you need is love? Well yes that is true but an exotic holiday or two might not go amiss either apparently!
