On The Lighter Side

by Mike

Well it’s Friday once more and with that comes some lighter stories to balance off the week.

Firstly be careful when you next drink a cup of tea as you may never believe what could be in it, this was certainly the case for a boarding school teacher in Austria.

Three boarding school students, aged between 16 and 18, are under investigation on suspicion of serving tea laced with disinfectant and water from the toilet to the teacher who tried to discipline them.

The teenagers worked in the kitchen of the school, in the south-western village of Treffen, from July to September and every morning they would prepare a pot of herbal tea for the teacher.

The female teacher was said to be very strict with the three students and apparently they decided to gain revenge by putting an unknown amount of disinfectant in her tea, along with toilet water.

The 54 year old woman suffered from shortage of breath and a cough. The three teenagers remain free while the police continue with their inquiries, however after pressure from the kitchen staff one of the boys confessed the crime to his mother.

Moving on and James Blunt has been branded too embarrassing to promote Bristol University, where he attended on an Army sponsored scholarship.

The University has left the singer off its list of alumni but has confirmed that TV presenter Sue Lawley and Little Britain duo Matt Lucas and David Walliams were added to the list.

A ‘source’ told the Daily Mirror that “He [Blunt] is just too embarrassing. Whining hits such as You’re Beautiful may earn him a mint, but it won’t inspire top students to join us.”

And finally be careful of men bearing gifts for a bad reaction to them may cause a riot.

In Japan a 31 year old man smashed up his employer’s office in a fit of rage after his boss ignored his gift, of jellies. A court in Osaka heard that the disgruntled worker, an employee of an online clothing sales company had given the company president the jelly desserts as a mark of gratitude for landing the job in the summer. It is an important Japanese tradition to send gifts to business contacts in summer and winter.

After finding out that the president has left the gift unopened under his desk, the man smashed 22 computers in the office with a truncheon. Prosecutors have stated the employer didn’t have the time to open the box due to too much work.

The worker pleaded guilty to charges of obstructing business with force
