On The Lighter Side

by Mike

Well it’s Friday so it’s time for some lighter stories again.

Firstly we’re in New Zealand and anyone looking to redeem themselves for stealing a laptop could be rewarded with a lifetime supply of beer.

The Croucher Brewing Company have made a plea for the return of the computer, which contains designs, creative work, contact details and financial information, was stolen from their office in the central North Island city of Rotorua.

Owners Paul Croucher and Nigel Gregory are offering free beer to whoever turns in the person responsible for the burglary.

A “lifetime supply”  is equal to about 12 beers each month, according to the company.

Moving onto New York and this may be a lesson to all of us to make sure that the person we want to marry is the one, otherwise it can end up messy.

A former New York couple will walk down the aisle of a court room, instead of a church, to settle a fight over a $48,800 (36,000 Euro) diamond engagement ring.

Dean Kuehnen Jr. is suing his ex-fiancé, Andria Castellano, to compel her to either return the ring or give him cash. They became engaged in December 2006, but broke off the engagement in September of this year.

Ms Castellano has threatened to destroy or sell the 3.23-carat ring, although Mr Kuehnen Jr. has stated that  there was an agreement in place for the ring to be returned to him, should the relationship end.

And finally onto England where studies have shown that swearing can be good for you, well at least at work anyway.

Researchers at the University of East Anglia have found that it can help boost team spirit among staff, allowing them to express better their feelings as well as develop social relationships.

Employees use swearing on a continuous basis, but not necessarily in a negative, abusive manner.

Ms. Castellano, give the ring back, it’s the right thing to do, greed is a sin. Move on and find Mr. Right and you’ll forget all about that ring.
