Walking the line

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Now more then ever it seems like everyone walks a religious tightrope. In a time where it seems that we can be too “politically correct”  we are reading and hearing more and more stories about things that may not have been a big issue for previous generations but seem to be brought to fore by [...]

Seeing is believing?

Monday, October 15th, 2007

If we do not see it, does it still exist? I mean those of us that believe in a heaven believe we will see loved ones that we have lost again once our lives are over, at the same time there are those that find this notion to be crazy.

Learning lessons from teaching

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Do we put children under too much pressure to succeed and be better then their parents?  It is just interesting that the topic has been brought up in Britain and Ireland in the past week in relation to exactly how much stress children are weighed down by with exams and other pressures of growing up.

“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt” Special Olympics Motto

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

In an age where the result of sporting matters can either bring instant joy or instant depression, with a very thin line between the two, it was nice to be able to read and view the reports about the endeavours of this year’s Special Olympics in Shanghai.

It’s Friday again, so here we go to get ready for the weekend with On The Lighter Side.

Whose benefit is it anyway?

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

The group, who provide personal safety advice, have stated that vicars should not wear dog collars when on duty because they increase the likelihood [...]

Figures from the 2005 census in New York have shown that women in their twenties are earning more than their male counterparts in at least five American cities, including New York, Boston and Chicago. In Dallas, young women earn on average 20% more than men.
It is said that because of this women in New York [...]

It’s only a game?

Monday, October 8th, 2007

On June 25, 2004 William and Joshua Buckner were playing the video game “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City”. In the game they were two characters wandering through the streets randomly killing people.
After a number of hours playing fantasy became reality as the stepbrothers decided to take two 24-calibre rifles from their home in Newport, Tennessee [...]

Do we really need to know?

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Are we really shallow when it comes to tabloid news and gossip? How far do they [the media] need to go for information that apparently is in the “interest of the public”.
I ask this after two incidents this week. The enquiry into the death of Princess Diana and the alleged hounding of Prince William and [...]
