The Lighter Side
To the lighter side we go once more and we start off with a story that proves you can do anything no matter how old you are.
Peggy McAlpine marked her 100th birthday by setting what is believed to be a new world record after paragliding from the top of a mountain range in Cyprus.
The British Pensioner leapt from a 760m peak in the Five Finger mountains in northern Cyprus for a 15-minute tandem flight. The Great Grandmother said she felt no nerves while doing the stunt.
Ms McAlpine would love to do it again but will give it a few years and let someone else have a go at beating the record stating, “’If no-one else wants a go, I’ll do it again when I am 105”
Moving on to South Korea and a well-known belly dancer has been charged with forging a degree to get a job teaching at a university.
Ahn Yoo-Jin allegedly forged a graduation certificate from a university in Sydney, Australia and will now face trial. It is said that she used it to get a job as a part-time lecturer in belly dancing at Kwangju Women’s University in 2006 but has now been sacked from the post.
Ms Ahn, also known as Xena Ahn, established the Belly Korea Academy in 1995 and is head of the Korea Belly Dance Association. A fake degree scandal broke out in July of this year with many investigations currently underway; one being that of Dongkuk University professor Shin Jeong-Ah for fabricating a Yale doctorate.
Since the investigations began dozens of figures from the cultural, entertainment and religious worlds have either confessed to faking their academic records or were found out.
And finally staff at a supermarket in England got a delivery with a difference. A piglet was discovered in a lorry full of toilet paper at a store in Ilkeston, central England, and immediately named Andrex after the toilet paper brand.
The animal had cuts and bruises on its snout and was immediately handed over, by staff, to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

I would like to point out that Xena is NOT head of KBDA. Her company is called Belly Dance Korea. http://www.bellykorea.com
