Trusting the parents
When things break down who can you really trust? Someone you put your faith in for so long and look up to, admire and believe in only for them to take all that love and respect that you have for them and to not only reject it, but to manipulate it and also crush every memory you had of that person. When all that happens who do you really trust?
If you are the children of John and Anne Darwin how must you be feeling right now? The emotional anguish that you had to go through when you believed that your father was lost and had little or no chance of ever being found alive must have been excruciating. To then find years later that he was in fact alive and not only that but your mother was involved in hiding him from the world, how can you even contemplate thinking about anything like that, let alone think about forgiveness.
Yes on most occasions we should be duty bound to forgive and forget, but someone tell me how easy it is to practice what is preached? Someone tell me how the sons of John and Anne Darwin can believe a single word that they ever heard from them.
For three years, while virtually everyone close to us believed John was missing presumed dead, he was actually at home with me. We were living as man and wife, although it was far from a conventional life. It was hard not to tell the boys but John was adamant they must not know anything.

Debt seems to be what this is all about. Mr Darwin apparently made some bad financial decisions and judging from what information we have seen or read every rental property he had resulted in a struggle to obtain the rent from his tenants.
I think Mrs Darwin tries to portray herself as an innocent a little too much. The moment she agreed to take John Darwin back in, the moment she agreed to take the payout for John Darwin’s “death” was the moment that she became 50% involved in this plan that spun into chaos.
Mark and Anthony, their sons, do not deserve to have been treated like idiots. The fact that the rest of the world was means little, because in all honesty before this week did anyone really know who the Darwins were?
A friend of mine once wrote a song with the line in it that said “I want to put my trust in you, but do you really want it?” From my own experience all a child wants to do is put their faith and trust in their parents, because if you cannot trust them in your life it is very difficult to begin to open up and trust anyone else at all.
