Force is not a remedy - John Bright
The evil things that some people do can leave us reeling in shock and horror and wondering if there is any real good in the world and also wondering if the elusive dream called peace can ever be achieved.
The more I look upon violence, the more I wonder if those that committed are more scared then egotistical about the things they do.
Benazir Bhutto’s assassination this week was a terrible act of cowardice and whatever group is to blame for it will not take away the fact that a life has been lost simply because a resolution was not found to solve the ongoing crisis in Pakistan.
Violence is breeding all over the world and because of this there are more and more dangerous places where people’s lives are being placed in jeopardy. We seem to have no answer to this right now. The train of thought seems to be if it’s a problem destroy it, almost as if it’s an easier way of doing things.
Power is an incredible thing in that regard. There are some who once they obtained a little bit of power, will do anything to hold onto it by any means necessary if they feel the least bit threatened. It is not just in war torn countries or places with political upheaval that this occurs.
Benazir’s father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was executed in 1979 and it is unfortunate that politics has robbed the world of another life. It is the sheer audacity of those who believe that they play God and do whatever they wish with lives that always astounds me. I haven’t chosen to place my life in anyone’s hands but yet there are those that are willing to do this for me without my knowledge. It has been happening for centuries and unfortunately until common sense can prevail (which it may never) it is likely to continue.
This is not a case of having good people against bad people. When there has been so much blood shed on both sides how can one side be in the right more then the other? So let’s continue to become the animals we seem to believe we are, let’s solve problems with rage and with a fist, weapon or bomb. Let’s forget what it means to use our minds, let’s forget what it means to work towards resolutions that make take longer then a day to achieve.
There will be some people reading that last sentence and believing every word of it. If there are more people like that and less people with the opposite view this world will become a sad and evil place to be in.

Its hard to see a divine presence in all this evil
Perhaps we just need to start where were at with ourselves and treat all those we share our lives with how we would like to be treated ourselves and let the good grow amongst us
