Weapons of choice
It’s gotten to the stage where the Minister for Justice wants to examine current legislation covering swords, knives and other dangerous weapons to see if it needs to be tightened up. What a phrase, it makes it sound like we have a tiny problem in this country with violence and weapons.
Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy has stated concerned about the increase in violent crime and that the gardaí were prioritising knife crime and stabbings. Only now?
Whether we like to admit it or not, and the authorities fall into the not category, we’ve let it all slide and just accepted that things are going to get worse before they can get better. The problem is that those in authority that have let it slide are currently scratching their head with no earthly idea how to turn it round and make it better.
The CAB can do the odd round up of funds from the criminal foolish enough to get caught, the gardai can do the round up of the junkies on the quays to satisfy the quota for last year to go along with the speed camera quota, but all in all the problem will still be there.
Stop the small crimes, build a platform and the bigger crimes will start to fall. It’s worked in New York, but due to sheer laziness it hasn’t even been attempted in Ireland. It’s all about re-election, unfortunately.
Then again isn’t it always.

The only way to find hope in a dying world is to take the invitation Christ offers.
Jesus said, “Here I am! I stand at the door of your heart and knock. It anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in…”
(Revelation 3:20)
PRAYER:
JESUS, forgive my sins. Come into my heart and life and be my Lord and Saviour. I turn from my sins and I promise to follow You all the days of my life. By faith I pray. Amen.
Heavenly Father, as I read Your Holy Bible and pray to You daily, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, Amen.
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water baptism and of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to our spirit. ‘You must be born again spiritually.’ ”
(John 3:5-7)
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Love from above is HIS Word and Will..so we will.

Catholics have in the Rosary a weapon of great power. I qoute here from John O’Connell of Catholic.net:
‘Numerous popes and saints have acclaimed the efficacy of the Rosary. It is indeed a most powerful spiritual weapon. Pope John XXIII called the Rosary “the Psalter of the poor.” Theologians have called the Rosary “the school of contemplation” because it introduces the faithful to meditative prayer.’
What better to battle evil than the power of prayer?
What better to move politicians and leaders than the power of prayer?
