Ripping Apart From The Inside
The National Advisory Committee on Drugs’ research shows the number of people who have taken cocaine in their lives has increased from 3% to 5% since 2003. More money = better class of drugs then?
It’s the in crowd thing to, the new way to build peer pressure amongst work colleagues and friends of all kind. Cannabis is the most commonly used drug, the numbers who have used the drug have increased from 17% to 21%.
It is one of those things that realistically is impossible to stop, the Gardai and the beloved Government can say the war on drugs is continuing and that the recent seizure of heroin worth €6.5m (how do they know what it’s worth?) but if there’s demand it will be supplied.
Look around, go to places around Dublin and it’s more then likely you will see deals being made right before your very eyes.
What kind of message are we sending out? “Hey it’s cool, try drugs…it may kill you but hey isn’t that the fun part?” Fact you can get hooked on drink, you can get hooked on drugs…the only thing about a lot of drugs is there’s no real safety limit. Kind of obvious huh?
Having more money does not necessarily bring more class. For the cool element of drugs there’s always the dark side. It can ruin lives, destroy families and tear apart years of hard work within a matter of moments.

Sister Julianna Says:
You pose a question; and write of a drak situation…. addiction can happen to everyone, including innocently to prescription drugs….a solution, please? What of the organisations who fight drug addiction in practical ways in Dublin? The Franciscans at Merchant’s Quay… and the many parents who support and stand by the children when these things happen. The voluntary groups who help young folk in mnay areas.. and of course the religious who pray for them daily and nightly.
Anyone can judge and comment….better just to help ..Blessings this day
