Love Is All You Need?

by Mike

Valentines Day is fast approaching and for many of us we will be rushing round the shops to try and find the perfect (last minute?) gift.

It does get to the stage where you wonder how much people buy gifts truly out of love or because of peer pressure because everywhere you look the message that is given is that we have to put in a significant effort and not just for a day. I’m sure you have all seen and heard about making a weekend out of it, so it’s now “Valentines Weekend”

I admire anyone who can fall and remain in love with each other. It is one of the hardest things to maintain, what with all that life can throw at it. We read about celebrity marriages, some that barely last for five minutes, ending and wonder why they even bothered to be wed in the first place.

Put simply marrying because you love each other is the only real reason to do so. Some marry for money or looks, but both of those can fade and generally when it happens most do not really understand why.

Of course love can fade; it is difficult to stay together. Honesty is hard to maintain and sometimes small white lies can all of a sudden become huge and cannot be controlled.

So do you really need a day to declare how much you love someone or how much you feel for someone and they just may not realise it?

Single people may look upon love as the party that everyone tells you that you should have been to, but when you go to the next “be there” party you start to wonder why you were there in the first place. Love works if you work at it, forcing it and trying to ram it down people’s throats that they are wrong is just encouraging the constant negative and producing something that is always going to come across as fake.
