How many crimes are permitted simply because their authors could not endure being wrong - Albert Camus
We should get paid for the effort we put into our work, unfortunately there are those that seek to undermine this.
In the last two years there has been 296 detections for the non payment of minimum wage, but only one prosecution. There are people who will work for the sake of working and because of this there will always employers who will try to exploit this and save money .
Everyone deserves to be paid for work that they do. We all sign contracts in the jobs and agree with the employer that we put in the work and effort and that in return we will get a fair wage.
So why should those who do not uphold the national wage agreement get away with doing something that every one else has to do. When did we make them the elite?
The truth is that we didn’t, we just seem to have a tough time getting the authorities follow the rules, so taking the time to prosecute and punish those who do not abide by the law is harder then it should be.
If the situation was reversed and the employee was stealing from the employee, would they employee not demand that they be punished and would the authorities be doing so as quickly as possible?
Is there ever an acceptable way of stealing?

Ann Says:
Unscrupulous employers should be taken to court each and every time. Greater effort should be put into the distribution of information packs available to employees especially migrant workers, ensuring that no worker is unaware of his basic human right to a fair wage.
Greed is what drives an employer to pay less than he ought, while depriving the honest worker of what is his by law.
