Racism is something I can never understand, it can turn seemingly “normal” people into bitter and twisted idiots who because they are either uneducated or just plain scared choose to hit out at the those from other races or creeds.
My reason for bringing this up follows the recent announcement that, Chelsea Football Club manager, Avram Grant was sent anti-Semitic death threats in a package that also contained a white powder.
A member of staff at the club opened a note that according to BBC used the words “When you open this letter you will die a slow and painful death”. Thankfully the powder was found to be harmless.
It made my wonder why would someone go to that length to get a message across that they do not like someone just because of their religion or in other cases because of the colour of their skin or where they are from?
Unfortunately wars have been declared for this kind of thing and at the end of the day the only people that win are the hate filled fools that believe they are constantly in the right. You do not need a qualification to be an idiot, it’s a low paid job with few perks but you can make a career out of it.
These fools bring down human decency and constantly try to block any chance of people trusting each other more. Why would you want to go outside if you were led to believe that you would not be tolerated by those who are different then you?
Persecution is not right and while I would gladly suggest that the fools who make dish out racial abuse and threats should be persecuted by the rest of the world, what they really need to be is educated.
They need to see that the world does not just revolve around them, that there are many different cultures in the world that are just as meaningful as they are. They need to see that when a person from a different race walks towards them on the street it is not because they wish to inflict harm and that they should treat people equally.
It will take a long time for this to come about but until it does please do not let the cowards win.
