Thoughts…

Are we about as likely to see an end to the war on terror as we are to the Mahon Tribunal?

I have a feeling this will run on for years with no real end in sight and will leave us wondering what it was all about in the first place. A bit like watching Lost then!

It seems to me that things have gotten so desperate that a lot of the Government are getting themselves ready to jump into the bunker when the explosions start. When it comes down to it there are no friends in politics and most would sell anything and anyone they ever knew in order to get ahead.

If Bertie Ahern is ever brought down, you can guarantee that he will try to bring a lot more with him, while others scarper and deny ever having known him in the first place.

Princess Diana’s butler Paul Burrell “did not tell the truth at the inquest into her death”, according to Lord Justice Scott Baker. I’m sure Mr Burrell was a very nice quiet reserved man before a small bit of fame came his way.

It would happen to the majority of us, stories can change and the truth is something which may come out if the PR men can spin it the right way. Regardless of anything else the inquest is going to leave us all with more questions then answers and the one person who could’ve told us what the real truth was unfortunately left us a decade ago.

The American Billionaire Ted Turner has announced that together with the United Methodist Church and Lutheran World Relief, his United Nations Foundation will try to raise $200 million to combat malaria in Africa.

Turner previously came under criticism for calling Christianity “a religion for losers” and suggesting observers of Ash Wednesday were “Jesus freaks.”

After being asked why he has now come out and backed this venture he stated “As I get older … I get, you know, more tolerant.” $200 million will hopefully be used in the proper way to help those who badly need it and not get caught up in red tape like so many other donations. However for Turner to try and make this work is a huge undertaking and he deserves praise for that.
