The Lighter Side
To the Lighter Side we go again, with stories to help take the seriousness out of the week.
Firstly we go to Munich or should that be Monaco, as two women got mixed up between the two cities while arranging to meet their niece at a train station.
They set off from Italy to Munich after arranging to meet their niece in Monaco — which in Italian can mean either the tiny principality on the French Riviera, or Bavaria’s capital.
Called Monaco di Baviera in Italian, the city is known as Muenchen in High German, Mnichov in Czech, Monachium in Polish and Minga in the local Bavarian dialect.
The pair, originally from the Dominican Republic, thought they were due to meet their 14 year old niece at the Paris to Munich train, and travelled across the Alps from Trento in Northern Italy.
They only spoke Italian and Spanish and because of this it took police 1 and half hours to establish that she had actually gone to the Mediterranean.
Afterwards, the women got back in their car and set off on the 523 mile journey to Monaco.
Moving onto Russia and new uniforms will have to be designed for Generals as more than 30 percent of the army’s elite officers are overweight and 25 percent failed a fitness test.
To help combat this problem, Russian army spokesman Vyacheslav Sedov announced that they will build gyms, swimming pools and sports halls to get the unfit officers back in form.
