The Lighter Side

To the lighter side we go, with some stories to try and take the seriousness of the week.

Firstly to England, where an angry husband has finally had enough of his wife and put her up for sale…on eBay.

Paul Osborn posted a photo of wife Sharon picking her nose and started the bidding for 1p and he claimed: “Here is my lying, cheating, adulterous…wife of 26 years.”

On Tuesday, Mr. Osborn removed the auction listing as the final bid reached GBP£750,000. The Bletchley native stated, “I wish I’d been able to sell her for that much, it would have helped with the mortgage.”

Moving on to New York and a man who says he was denied a seat on a five-hour and was instead told to “hang out” in the plane’s bathroom is suing the airline company for $2 million.

Gokhan Mutlu arrived to check in for a jetBlue flight from San Diego to New York in February he was told the flight was full. He was a jetBlue flight attendant agreed to give up her seat and travel in an airline employee “jump seat.”

Mutlu then became uncomfortable and asked could he be moved to a proper seat, the pilot was said to be annoyed at the man’s reluctance to not “hang out” in the bathroom.

At one point, the airplane experienced turbulence and Mutlu sat on the toilet seat without a seat belt, causing him “tremendous fear,” the lawsuit said.

And finally back to England and to Rochdale and Rochdale United’s striker Lee Thorpe managed to break his arm in three places while arm-wrestling with a team mate, while on the team coach for the League Two play off semi final at Darlington.

“It was an unfortunate, freak accident occurring during something we have been doing all season,” manager Keith Hill told the club’s Web site.

“No-one is to blame and it is certainly not that we are unprofessional but it is not something we will be doing again. We have learnt a valuable lesson from what might occur.”
