Don’t let the “Thugs” win

by admin

I can never understand hooliganism. As someone who would go to a reasonable amount of football matches I can safely say that those who create trouble cannot be considered football fans.

The scenes in Manchester on Wednesday night after the UEFA Cup Final were nothing short of disgraceful and Glasgow Rangers defeat gave the “thugs” an excuse to riot and generally destroy property and place people’s lives in danger.

How can anyone justify the kicking and stomping of the Police Officer in the middle of a street by a gang of at least a dozen people?

It was frightening to even watch parts of this on the news and there is no way it can be justified.

We can use anything to justify why “society” is behaving and changing and can put it out of our minds, safe in the knowledge that it is not our fault. However, responsibility has to start somewhere.

I hope that those who perpetrated the crime will be found and arrested because there is simply no excuse for what they have done. Drunkenness can be blamed on a words being uttered in anger, but can it really justify violent tendencies?
