Very Random Thoughts

by Mike

Some random thoughts about what is going on in the world.

Firstly it seems crazy to me that the news headlines scream that 100 British troops have now died in Afghanistan, since 2001, almost as if it is a badge of honour.

A “milestone” it may be, however to me it shows how  futile the situation is and how the loss of life could have been avoided,. I have said before I admire soldiers who put their lives on the line and get little in return, however in modern times and particularly in this war, I sill always ask why they are being placed in this situation in the first place?

Without going into taking sides of Yes or No, I have one simple question. Does anyone really know about the Lisbon Treaty, apart from seeing the sensationalised campaign posters, from both sides, on our streets?

Tomohiro Kato is reported to have said that he was “tired of life” before allegedly driving a truck into a crowd of people and the result actions killed seven people. I understand depression and how at the time you are the only person who is going through  problems that no one else can understand. However wanting to take your own life is one thing, taking others along with can never justify being “tired of life”

One final thing, to protest properly and peacefully you need to have faith. I think you need to have faith full stop or nothing can get done, but if the drive and passion isn’t there to fight for what you believe in, in the right way,  then things will never change.

To those protesting in various parts of the world, I hope they continue to do so in a positive way and let’s not have some idiots turning things to violence and ruining the message that is trying to be sent out.
