Ready for the crunch?

by Mike

The outgoing President of the United States, Mr George Bush is urging the US congress to try and support the housing finance companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in order to relieve some pressure on the economy.

The last time I wrote about Mr Bush, I was criticised because he is “a good Christian” and maybe that is the case and if I remember correctly my comment was in no way putting the man down, more just stating what the opinion of the general public may be.

I’ve said before that I realise how two faced and hypocritical we can all be and hey we can, are and ever shall be. However there is one thing to spend money like there is no tomorrow for “freedom” and another to ignore that which is meant to be closer to home and thus should be of primary importance.

Depending who you believe, the war on terror costs America roughly $250 million per day, which is an absolutely staggering amount of waste (a waste of life mostly).

I’m all for something that will help change the course of what people consider to be a credit crunch but in order to regain some semblance of order, it will require people all over the world to dig their way out of the problem. If borrowing goes up, taxes go up. If taxes go up people have less to spend and thus will have less to live on thereby creating a vicious circle that everyone will wonder how and why it was developed in the first place.

Real long term strategy and thought is needed and maybe Mr Bush is not the man to do it now; since his term of office will end soon. We look to America for so much and they in turn look out at us as the unofficial rulers of the world. One can only hope that come 2009, the new King of the World will not let the power go to his head and can make the big decisions needed to turn things around.

Charles, We might like to discuss this further?

1st. the Church is based on socialist principles as it was founded by a well known socialist….guess who?….

It’s unlikely that Obama is a Marxist….but if you mean socialism then I’m all for it. And I would suggest that all commited Christians should be too.

Is this not the year of St. Paul? (Just throwing that out there!)
