“Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable.”
Stubbornness, I’ve never understood the trait and it’s something that I have moments of.
Why is it that we can have such a hard time in admitting things to ourselves, to others and generally just will not do things because pride comes before the fall?
The biggest arguments can come from the smallest things and it is usually a case where someone will refuse to accept or to admit something and it can set things back years and break down relationships
It can also be the difference in finding out that there could be a physical, mental or medical problem and it was discovered too late because a check up was put down to the “I’ll do it tomorrow” category.
I had to be decisive about something today and it was normally a case where I would say that it could wait. Thankfully it was the right decision and because of it I was able to put my mind at ease.
I guess the more I can walk away from a situation and not have to say “If Only”, will mean that I have less to regret and ultimately less time to worry about my pride getting in the way.
