Too many have dispensed with generosity in order to practice charity. – Albert Camus

Do you ever feel guilty walking past a charity collector and not stopping to either listen or to give a small donation?

I am someone that does try and donate to charity a couple of times a year. Call me a cynic (‘you’re a cynic’) but I can never full trust and appreciate a situation where all the money I give does not go to charity,

So that is probably why you will see me ducking out of the way to avoid those with the clipboard and to be honest I make no apologies for it.  The main reason for it is that it not simply a case of just handing over some change or cash, it’s providing your bank details to someone who you’ve barely known for 30 seconds, does that seem wise?

I understand what they are trying to do and hey if people wish to donate; not a problem at all. On any television station right now, there will be an advertisement to “please give just…” again it is something that I don’t object to, but as far as I am concerned, I don’t feel ashamed by avoiding it and giving in my own time and my own way to charity.
