Health is the second blessing that we mortals are capable of: a blessing that money cannot buy. – Izaak Walton

€245 million is not just a figure on could shrug off and say it does not matter and yet the HSE appears to be doing just that.

John Buckley’s revelation will have surprised many with the sheer size of the “overrun” but will not have done so in terms of the situation that it has placed our health service in.

We have known for a long time that this is a service that just does not work and yet it seems, from an outsiders view, that not enough is being down to turn it around.

The carpet that all this mess has been swept under must be showing a lump as high as the Sugarloaf! You cannot just throw money at something and expect everything to work.

Qualified, skilled people capable of managing on a budget are badly needed in this country, regardless of the field they are in. However we do have a government that struggles with any kind of budget.

Why should their specific departments be any different?
