We’ve got a big problem – George W Bush

by admin

It seems like America is hurt, the public have been subject to financial woes over the last few years and now with the rescue package to “bail out” Wall Street failing spectacularly, one must wonder what is next.

With the word recession flying around everywhere, fear is starting to grip everything. Maybe it will take time to fully sink in, but when the next bills arrive and Christmas hits, there is always a chance that the money will not be there and will also not be able to be borrowed. Worrying times all around really.

It seems crazy when there are so many, sometimes known as fat cats, that seem to decide it would be a great time to take huge payoffs and bonuses which will at some stage be paid by the tax payers. It sounds like great fun?

We all seem to be on high alert for just about everything. We all might start helping the environment purely out of a need to save money and it will more then likely have little to do with a carbon footprint.

One has to hope that the US Government can sort something out. Maybe they will not have the confidence of the public at large, but it has to change sometime.

so how is bush to blame for that? your title is extremly misleading. May I remind you that George Bush is anything but a problem for saving the lives of his citizens .
He has an amazingly good record against abortion. Which I should remind you is the number one human rights issue of our time.
Here is a list of what he has achieved in case you doubt me. http://www.priestsforlife.org/elections/consequences.htm
I strongly urge you to read it.

To the contrary obama has promised to roll back anti abortion achievements which will actually increase the number of abortions.

the quote was taken from President Bush in relation to the financial crisis and was not a reflection on his record on abortion, nor was this article.

When the drum bangs with the same beat over and over, it can be difficult to listen to. I understand, matthew, that abortion is a strong issue for you and believe it or not I do respect you for caring so much about it, because nowadays people care very little about serious issues and would prefer to find out who is getting through to the next stage of X Factor.

However finance makes the world go around, it gives us platforms, such as this one, to say what we want and gives us the chance to fight for the things we believe in.

This is a situation that is going to have long lasting effects, and before you say it yes the issue of abortion has long lasting effects. If i continued to talk about one subject all the time, no one would come here to read what I have to say and to be honest I would find it difficult to write about the same things all the time.

I choose to discuss very little religious issues because there are those that contribute to this site that decide that they wish to speak about that. I took it upon myself to write about issues that concern me and with the view that the majority will be of a mindset that I will not deeply offend them.

If i have deeply offended you Sir, I do apologise, it is not my intention.

My argument for the merits of George W Bush as the president could be summed up in the following points that have been debated and I am sure will be in years to come:

    Mr Bush:

was the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.

invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.

shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.

refused to allow inspector’s access to U.S. “prisoners of war” detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention.

has broken more international treaties than any President in U.S. history.

set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market.

presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.

presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed.

There are many more that can be listed, my point was not about his views on abortion nor what Mr McCain’s or Mr Obama’s are.

I would vote for Obama, simply because the republicans have had 8 years and the state of the economy is something that has been made worse, if the democrats mess up it’s 4 years and then the Republicans will make their comeback and possibly save the day…who knows?

“abortion is a strong issue for you” You misunderstand mike what I am driving at. This is not a strong issue for “me” – This is a strong issue for every human being. This is catholic teaching and not only that can be discerned using natural human reason.

Your “vote” for obama if you had one would be a grave mistake. You list all these issues all of which are important, but somehow seem to place them on an equal footing with the millions of babies who have died because of abortion.

Do you realize that the supreme court in the US is one justice away from making a pro life majority? That one of them is likely to retire in the next presidents term? And that there are 15 cases at any given time on abortion in the federal courts almost any of which can have a request to overturn roe v wade overturned attached to them?

Quite literally this election is about saving lives. Breaking international treaties and mismanaging the economy are in no way the same morally as voting to save babies lives.

Like I said to dave , a vote for obama will increase the number abortions. Did you know this?

Did you read the link I attached in my first comment?

I do appreciate that you can and should write about other issues but a sense of proportion is needed in these things. Moral judgments are not to be made on our emotions or what everyone else is saying but can be made using our intellect and objectively discerned.
