“Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.”
I’m sure we will see from now until the weekend, and possibly after, all the stories from people who “always knew” that Karen Matthews was guilty and that it was a scam from the beginning.
However it is fair to say that for a little while Matthews, and the members of their family who may be involved, had a nation convinced that her daughter Shannon was missing and stirred on by the recent events in the McCann case. The media latched on to it and the appeals were made on television.
I think I remember saying before that it all seem a little suspicious and hoped that it wasn’t the case. The fact that it has turned out to be just that is a sad reflection on society and on Karen Matthews herself.
It is believed that they wanted the reward and whatever other money came from this as well. I have to ask as to how you can put a price on the head of your daughter and the stage of innocence she was at?
This has to affect her in the long run, if not already, and I really wonder why it was needed.
How desperate are people for fame and money? Those who were involved decided that that Shannon was worth money to them and was there to be sold. If that is the case, why not be done with rules and morals and just sell the poor girl into slavery?
I hope Karen Matthews can live with herself, because it will take a long time for the public to forgive her, but they will not forget. We are supposed to forgive and there are times when it can become very difficult to do so.
I do not know how a mother in their right mind could even think of such a plot, but then maybe she is not in her right mind?
