“Suffering is permanent, obscure and dark, And shares the nature of infinity” – Williams Wordsworth

It is very easy to say that something should be done, it’s another thing to actually do it.

For years it has been said that something should be done about the situation in Zimbabwe and Robert Mugabe’s reign. For years it seems that it is just the media hyping the campaign with politicians happy to get some attention by mentioning it but very little actually happens apart from a slight admonishing that says something along the lines of “Robert, stop being bold”

Cholera has taken many lives in Zimbabwe and recent figures have shown that 600 people have died from it in the latest outbreak.  According to the World Health organisation, the water delivery system has broken down in Harare and other cities, forcing residents to drink from contaminated wells and streams.

Gordon Brown can state that things have now escalated from a national to an international situation but it has always been that way. There has not been the effort or need by the Major World powers to do anything because there has been no real gain for them doing so. In short, I think it’s because there’s nothing worth of value to them as part of the incentive to liberate the country.

With that said, the message from Zimbabwe may scream “Help” to us all but as events in Iraq have shown, not everyone is thrilled by a change of regime and having already been stretched by Iraq and Afghanistan, countries will not be as keen to throw troops into the unknown.

What is obvious is that people are suffering, while one man clings to power and reigns with splendour. Does that seem fair to you?

No, me neither.
