First Impressions last?
Since we live in a world of sound bytes, where a slip of the tongue can cause great offence, I wonder how much people value first impressions?
We have seen recent stories where angry exchanges recorded and broadcasted have resulted in a critical backlash and questioning whether they are like this all of the time, when it can simply be taken out of context.
We all have moments where we can react in badly in the heat of the moment and lose control of our emotions, be it tiredness, intensity or a great deal more excuses.
So when an argument is started or harsh word spoken, should some be held accountable for that in the long term?
The ability to be calm in situations such as these are always welcome, but even then we can all be pushed to our limits. There is always something to make us say enough, whether it is someone or something that is simply taking advantage of generosity or someone being so ignorant that they do not realise the hurt and offence they are causing.
We are all human, well as far as I know, and there is not one person on this planet that will always say the right thing or get the right reactions to the things that they believe are right.
As I’ve previously stated, racially motivated comments are something that cannot be tolerated, but when there’s a situation like the actor Christian Bale, I think it is something that has been blown out of proportion. It was probably something that should have been kept “in house”, but this is the way society has gone.
