Ruining Credibility is Plane Stupid

by admin

I am not the biggest fan of Peter Mandelson but to throw green custard over the man is an absolutely stupid act.

Protest is a basic right. Non physical and peaceful protest should be essential for anyone trying to make their. To me though someone loses credibility for the issue they wish to highlight when things turn violent.

One could maybe say security was lax but Lord Mandelson, as he is now better known as, was right to turn away like he did. It could have easily been something hot, acidic easily something that could have done some serious damage to have.

I understand people are more anxious and angry about current situations financially and also with the environment, but tell me what this does for the Plane Stupid campaign?

The activists launched a series of high profile stunts in recent years against the British Government’s environmental policies. Leila Dean committed the act on this occasion and was arrested and subsequently bailed.

Martin Luther King showed people to way to protest and though it unfortunately cost him his life, the message was spread far and wide. Those with power expect protest in violent form because it connects with the basic animal instinct to react. What is meant to separate us from animals is that we can think, usually, clearly and come up with different ways to react to different situations.

This will be a distant memory soon, it may have made people briefly take notice of Ms Dean, but again I do not understand what she expected to achieve by it. Decisions will not be reversed based on this action.
