“After the government takes enough to balance the budget, the taxpayer has the job of budgeting the balance.” – Unknown
I wonder somewhere in Dublin tonight will the Government all pat themselves on the back, swig their brandy and chomp on their cigars. I think dentists across the country might see a lot of business because it feels like we have been kicked in the teeth today.
As a thank you from the Government they have allowed us to pay more money to them for their mistakes. Wonderful, Mr Lenihan go to the top of the class and grab a gold star on your way up there. It seems like they took the easy way out and have tried their best to force a lot of us to pay back for the bad decisions they have made.
Their must be disbelief from Mr Cowen and Mr Lenihan as to why we have not all stood up and given them a hearty round of applause. All the times they have looked the other way, all the times they have dismissed us as fools for questioning the top people in power, all the times they have taken something positive and driven it six feet under again and again.
Where does it stop? Things are bad enough in life at the moment with families struggling to make ends meet, with both parents working and their hands being forced by having to pay for child care where it works out costing more then it is worth, they make things worse by hitting people in the pocket again.
When pensions are all the rage and our former Taoiseach has enough money to roll in of which he is guaranteed while he continues to live and work, where our Health Minister doesn’t have a clue, where consultants are tied to huge contracts where someone must have put in the small print “by the way this cannot be broken…ha ha!”, it leaves you with one question; where are we?
The Republic of Ireland that is where. The cuts they have made is to ensure that we will not seek to spend our disposable income elsewhere. Well done boys and girls, pay for the train fare up to the North while you are at it.
Right with that rant over, I’m off to spend my money at one of the German supermarket chains with the cheap food.

I am married with two young children, and am the sole breadwinner.
When you are finding it hard to survive,as it was, with all the bills.
They come and take the money from the kids.
It is a disgrace.
The goverment should be kicked out now.
I will be doing my shopping up the North from today.
My cigarettes will now be bought only on the black market, and I will consider signing on the dole, rather than, kill myself, scratching a living.
I will also buy my next banger,up the north, and advise anyone else to do the same.
People in Ireland roll-over and let them get away with it.
I wish I was a drinker or a fraudster banker,or a millionaire builder, all of which get given bonuses and bailed out.
No I am just a parent.
There should be a complete strike, untill, these morons are replaced.
I actually think they have pushed us too far this time, and wouldnt be at all surprised if this situation tuned into civil unrest, with riots in every major town and city.
I WILL SEE YOU ON THE STREETS.
