What is a feed?

Many websites now offer a subscription to a feed of the websites’ content. The feed for the content on Catholic Ireland blogs is a list of all the articles and the content for them starting with the most recent one.

There are lots of technical names associated with the feed subscriptions like rss, xml, atom etc. To give the least technical explanation, a feed is like a newspaper being delivered to your doorstep every morning, where the paper is the content on the website and your doorstep is your feed reader or as it is also known as feed aggregator.

Why would I want to subscribe to a feed?

There are many good reasons to subscribe to a feed.

One of the best ones is, if you visit a lot of websites regularly , and these websites have feeds, you can then get all that content delivered directly to your feed reader instead of going to each website. This can save a lot of time.

You can also keep track of all the new content on each website really easily. You can bookmark interesting pages to read them again.

Where do I get a feed reader?

There are many feed readers or feed aggregators. Some are programs that you can run from your own machine, some are built directly into your web browser, and some which are web based.

How do I subscribe to Catholic Ireland Blogs feed?
Rss Image Usually when you see this image it means that there is a feed available for the website. You may also see the image in the image in the location bar at the top.

There will usually also be a link somewhere that is either the image above or a link saying “subscribe to feed”. Click on it an select the feed reader you are using.
